Signalling the easing of the India-Pak conflict, the 32 airports which were closed to civilian flights a few days ago will soon be reopened. Earlier, it was announced that they will be closed till May 15. A formal announcement on the same was published on the X page of the Airport Authority of India on Monday. Airports across northern and western India — including Srinagar and Amritsar — were closed due to the military standoff. The Airports Authority of India (AAI), along with other aviation bodies, had issued a series of Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) to enforce the temporary closure. The closing of the airports had  majorly affected the air traffic in the western and northern regions of India.

Chandigarh Airport is already open from 10 am for flight operations, said Chandigarh International Airport Limited Deputy Commissioner. The other reopened airports are Amritsar, Ludhiana, Srinagar, Patiala, Bhuntar, Kishengarh, Shimla, Bhaghinda, Kangra-Ggal, Jaisalmer, Bhuj, Kandla, Keshod, Porbandar, Hirasar, Jamnagar, Mundra, Leh, Jammu, Pathakot, Halwara, Bikaner and Jodhpur. However, the flight operations will take time to resume and are expected to begin by tomorrow. Indigo Airlines also posted a travel advisory stating that the airports are now open for operations, though they mentioned the possibility of certain adjustments and delays.
